Ingredients
  • 4 Servings
  • 250 g Jarlsberg® Original
  • 1 country bread, sourdough bread or good loaf bread
  • 1/2 dl olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 pinch of chili flakes
  • 1 bunch of fresh basil or thyme
  • 200 g tomatoes
  • 1 dl olives
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 bunch of fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper
Here is how you do it

Set the oven to 200 C. Cut the bread into slices lengthwise but cut only 2/3 of the way down - be careful not to slice all the way through. Now slice it in the opposite direction, so that the bread is divided into squares that are held together at the bottom. Mix the oil, finely chopped or grated garlic, chili flakes and finely chopped herbs. Spread the mixture over the bread so it gets into all the nooks and crannies. Thinly slice or roughly grate the Jarlsberg®. Fill the bread with Jarlsberg®. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.

Cut the tomato and olives into small pieces and put them in a bowl. Finely chop the shallot and add it to the bowl together with a dash of apple cider or white wine vinegar. Season with salt and pepper, then top with fresh basil. Serve the salsa with the freshly baked Jarlsberg® cheese bread.

For this recipe you can use Jarlsberg® Original, Lite or Special Reserve.
