With a flavor that’s both unique and familiar, Jarlsberg® has been a favorite among cheese consumers of all palates for a long time. And although it has its origins in Norway, it has been made in both Ireland and the US for several years.

To boost our growth globally, we are now launching a brushed-up brand identity, with a new logo, slogan and packaging design. Our new philosophy is that ‘Life is better with Jarlsberg®’. Both true and a bit cheesy in its literal sense, ‘Life is better with Jarlsberg®’ shouldn’t be read too seriously, but as more of an attitude. It’s about adding that extra something to everyday day life and enjoying it together through all of its ups and downs. That is something we are serious about, and a good philosophy to live by these days.

The cheese remains the same
What hasn’t changed is the cheese’s character and incredible versatility. The mild, sweet and nutty taste adds that something extra without dominating the flavor palette. It’s a perfect companion to most herbs and spices, and it offers just the right chewiness and stretchiness when melted. With the added sweetness caused by heating, Jarlsberg® provides any melted cheese dish with a new depth of flavor. As more and more people discover, this cheese is made to melt. Maybe we can offer cheddar and its likes even more competition as the preferred grilled or burger cheese in the months and years to come.

A cheese of its own
Although sometimes mistaken for a Swiss cheese, Jarlsberg® is a singular creation — a mix between Gouda and Emmental. The structure and pattern of the holes are unique and inseparable from the mild, nutty flavor. The formula behind the cheese contains a patented propionic acid that is the source of both the flavor and the holes. You can’t have one without the other, and the combination is a cheese that makes every meal memorable.
