The Jarlsberg® stuffed bacon burger by chef George Duran.
- 1 pounds minced beef
- 1/2 pounds minced pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped, about 1 cup
- 250 g chopped cooked bacon
- 3 tbsp sun-dried tomato paste
- 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 4 thick chunks of Jarlsberg®
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 65 g mayonnaise
- 8 thin slices of tomato
- 4 eggs for frying (optional)
- Non-stick spray
Place Jarlsberg® cheese in the freezer for about an hour while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high. Mix hot sauce and mayo in small bowl and set aside.
Place the beef, pork, onion, bacon, sun-dried tomato paste and bread crumbs into a large bowl and season it generously with salt and pepper. Mix everything together with your hands until it is well combined. Take about a quarter of the meat mixture and form it into a ball with your hands. Make an indentation in the center with your thumb, and place one of the frozen Jarlsberg® cheeses in the center. Begin shaping the burger around the cheese until you have a patty. Repeat with the rest of the meat.
Once made, grill the burgers using non-stick spray, turning frequently, until cooked through and cheese begins to ooze out, about 8 to 10 minutes total.
Fry eggs in a non-stick pan and set aside. Serve burger on hamburger buns with mayo, tomatoes and fried egg on top.
