It’s also important how you make the actual hamburger. We add egg whites for more succulence and we make our patties really BIG. After that just make sure the classic fillings are super fresh. And of course, don’t forget to melt the cheese all the way through!
Mix the minced beef and egg whites together to large patties, one for each person. Season with salt and pepper. Fry or grill the burgers for about 3 minutes on each side. During the final minutes of cooking, place a slice of Jarlsberg on each burger. Heat the buns in a toaster or in the frying pan/grill. Spread mayonnaise, a little mustard and ketchup on the bottom half of the buns. Layer lettuce, gherkin/pickle, tomato slices, red onion and top with burger with melted Jarlsberg cheese. Put the other half of the bun on top and serve.
